Moong sukka with Jaggery & Coconut


Green gram is my favourite lentil and this dish is one  my most favourite childhood delicacies.  I just love  this snack & i can relish this for breakfast, lunch & dinner. ( lol)

My mom used to prepare this often for evening  tea. The aroma of boiled moong with jaggery , coconut and cardamom was heavenly and we used to relish this dish often when we return home hungry from school. 

Green gram is rich in proteins, carbohydrate, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals and contains a low amount of fat. The jaggery is a good source of iron.  Hence this dish is a super healthy and nutritious snack. 

This is the best choice for kids lunch box or snack box. 

This is a very simple & easy recipe which needs only 5 ingredients and can be prepared by any beginners.

Use jaggery as per your taste. 

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 250 gms green gram
  • 150 gram jaggery ( as required)
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • Salt to taste. 

Method:


Nicely wash & soak green gram for 8 hours or overnight. 

Add this soaked green gram to a pressure cooker. Add 1 & 1/2cup of water & take only 1 whistle. 

Allow the pressure to release on its own. 

Boiled green gram. 

Now add jaggery, coconut, salt to taste & mix well. Boil for 1 - 2 minutes. 

Add cardamom powder. Mix well & switch off the flame. 

Super delicious, nutritious sweet moon sukka is ready. 

You can prepare this as a dry dish or semi dry. 

I love semi dry and I just love  this sweet green gram water.
