Mango Wheat Buns

Have you tried Mangalore buns with mangoes? 

Try. It's so yummy!

Mangalore is famous for Mangalore buns which is prepared with bananas and all purpose flour .  I use only wheat flour for buns. 

This time I have tried buns with ripe mangoes & it turned out awesome!

Here you can use very less sugar as there is natural sweetness in mangoes.  

Use good quality ripe mangoes for this recipe.  I have used wheat flour instead of all purpose flour ( maida). You can use maida( all purpose flour) instead. 

Preparation is quite simple.  


RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2-3 cups wheat flour
  • 1 large ripened mango 
  • 1/2 cup curds
  • 1 tb sp cumin seeds 
  • Sugar as per your choice
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking soda (3 pinch)
  • 2 tbsp ghee/oil (optional)

METHOD:


Wash, peel & slice mango. 
Blend mango slices into a smooth paste. 

Add mango puree, sugar, salt, curds, cooking soda,  jeera to a mixing bowl.  
Mix well. Add wheat flour , ghee & knead to a soft dough.  
You can add little water if required while kneading. 

Apply little oil on top & rest this dough atleast for 6-8 hrs/ overnight. 

Take the required quantity and roll into  thick  round poori. 

Heat oil. 
Shake off the excess flour from the pooris and fry in medium hot oil. 

Fry till they turn golden brown. 

Delicious  mango buns are ready. 

They are so soft , moist & flavourful. 

Serve this plain or with chutney & sambar  for breakfast or evening tea.
