Khara Kaddi This is one of the quickest & easiest  savoury snack best enjoyed as a tea time snack . This is one of the main items in Christmas sweets/savoury platter.  These spicy sticks are prepared with just 7  ingredients.  Gram flour/ besan is the main ingredient used in this snack.  Aromatic cumin seeds and carom/ ajwain added to the batter gives unique taste, flavour & crunch to this snack.  My family loves it without chilli powder. You can add 1-2 tsp of chilli powder if you wish.  This is one of the best snack to enjoy during cool winter or monsoon days  Try this easy , delicious snack.  Recipe: Ingredients for the paste: 1/2 kg  gram flour/besan 1 tsp cumin seeds 1tsp carom/ ajwain 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 2 tbsp hot oil A big pinch of baking soda  Salt to taste  ( Oil is needed for frying) Method: Add all the ingredients  for the paste (mentioned above) to a mixing bowl.  ( You can even add some Chilli powder) Add hot oil

Butter Chakli/ Murukku

Butter Chakli/ butter Murukku This is the most popular South Indian deep fried tea time snack  which is prepared using rice flour & few other basic ingredients.  It's one of the main snack item prepared during festive season.  The butter added to flour gives awesome taste & crunch to this snack.  This is a super easy recipe which can be prepared quickly with very few ingredients.  You can prepare spiral shaped or straight cuts  pressed directly in the  hot oil.  Try & enjoy this crispy snack.  Recipe: I have used 200ml cup for the measurement.  Ingredients: 2 cups Rice flour 1/2 cup besan/ gram flour  3 tbsp roasted chana dal flour* 1 tsp cumin seeds 1tsp sesame seeds Salt to taste 2 tbsp melted butter water for kneading.  Oil for frying  Method: *Add 5 tbsp of roasted chana dal/ putani to the grinding jar.  Make fine powder.  You will get around 3 tbsp roasted chana dal powder.  Add all the ingredients mention

Banana chips These crispy, crunchy raw banana chips are I am sure everyone's favourite tea time snack.   My family just loves these hot crispy chips straight from the frying pan. They just disappear from the plate within no time.  I keep preparing this often as it's a very easy snack with just 4 ingredients.  This is one of the main snack item in Christmas Sweets ( Kuswar) pack and the best snack to enjoy during winter & monsoon season.  Kindly note down following points to prepare crispy, tasty banana chips:  1. Make sure to use hard , raw bananas. Nendran bananas are best for chips. Do not use soft, slightly ripe bananas.  2. While adding salt water to the oil, you need to be very careful. Healthy Christmas Cake My hubby just loves rich dry fruit Rum cake( Christmas cake). I keep trying healthy options to feed him some tasty, nutritious and totally guilt-free snacks.  This time i tried this healthy Christmas cake with no maida, no butter & no sugar.  It's healthy, nutritious & totally safe for any diet concious people.  Here i have used molasses for colour. You can add sugar caramel instead.  You can add any of your favourite dry fruits. I have used dates, tutti frutti, raisins, almonds, cashewnuts and walnuts.  I have added only 1/4 cup honey as I added dryfruits which contains natural sweetness and  molasses too which is naturally sweet. You can increase or decrease the quantity of any of these.  Try this delicious cake.
