This is one of the quickest & easiest savoury snack best enjoyed as a tea time snack . This is one of the main items in Christmas sweets/savoury platter.
These spicy sticks are prepared with just 7 ingredients. Gram flour/ besan is the main ingredient used in this snack.
Aromatic cumin seeds and carom/ ajwain added to the batter gives unique taste, flavour & crunch to this snack.
My family loves it without chilli powder. You can add 1-2 tsp of chilli powder if you wish.
This is one of the best snack to enjoy during cool winter or monsoon days

Recipe:
Ingredients for the paste:
- 1/2 kg gram flour/besan
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1tsp carom/ ajwain
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp hot oil
- A big pinch of baking soda
- Salt to taste
( Oil is needed for frying)
Method:
Add all the ingredients for the paste (mentioned above) to a mixing bowl. ( You can even add some Chilli powder)
Add hot oil & required quantity water & mix it to a lump-free batter. ( You can keep it thick or semi solid) I prefer semi solid.
Batter is ready.
Meanwhile heat required amount of oil for frying.
Add required amount of paste to the khara Kaddi mould.
Press it directly into hot oil.
Fry on both sides till they are golden yellow.
Remove on an absorbent paper.
Delicious , crispy Crunchy Khara Kaddi is ready to serve.
Cool & store in an airtight container.
