This is the most popular South Indian deep fried tea time snack which is prepared using rice flour & few other basic ingredients.
It's one of the main snack item prepared during festive season.
The butter added to flour gives awesome taste & crunch to this snack.
This is a super easy recipe which can be prepared quickly with very few ingredients.
You can prepare spiral shaped or straight cuts pressed directly in the hot oil.
Try & enjoy this crispy snack.
Recipe:
I have used 200ml cup for the measurement.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups Rice flour
- 1/2 cup besan/ gram flour
- 3 tbsp roasted chana dal flour*
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1tsp sesame seeds
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- water for kneading.
- Oil for frying
Method:
*Add 5 tbsp of roasted chana dal/ putani to the grinding jar.
Make fine powder. You will get around 3 tbsp roasted chana dal powder.
Add all the ingredients mentioned above to the mixing bowl.
Add around 1& 1/4 cup of water & knead to a soft dough. You may require 1 or 2 tbsp more or less water for kneading.
Smooth & soft dough is ready.
Meanwhile heat oil for frying.
Add required quantity of dough to the greased chakli mould.
Directly press chakli into hot oil. Flip sides & fry till golden brown on a medium flame.
Or, You can prepare chaklis as per your choice. I prefer baby chaklis. Press them on a butter paper.
Fry on a medium flame, flipping sides.
Fry till golden brown. Remove.
Place it on an absorbent paper.
Delicious, crispy, Crunchy butter chakli/ murukku is ready to serve.
Cool completely & store in an airtight container.
