Mackerels Green Masala!
It's aromatic, spicy & super delicious!
Fish is available in plenty for cheap price these days. Try this delicious Mackerel Green Masala.
Mackerels cooked in green masala gravy, absorbing all the flavours of ground green masala & garam masala.
This dish can be served with chapathies or rotis. Goes well as a side dish with any meal. Can be served as an appetizer too.
You can try this recipe with few other fish varieties like seer fish, sardine, butter fish & prawns.
Please note: Use spices as per your preference. We prefer less spicy food.
Recipe:
A.Ingredients for fish marination:
- 7 -8 big size Mackerels
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
B.Ingredients for Masala:
- 5-6 green chillies
- 1" ginger
- 10-12 garlic flakes
- 2 medium onions
- Small bunch coriander leaves
- Small bunch mint leaves
- 1/2 lemon size tamarind
C. Ingredients( for seasoning):
- 1 medium onion ( chopped)
- 2-3 tbsp coconut oil/ any oil
- 4 cloves, 1" cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp fennel seeds + shahi jeera
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste.
Method:
Select fresh Mackerels.
Clean and wash well & put slits.
Add all the ingredients mentioned under fish marination(A). Mix well & keep aside for half an hour.
Grind all the ingredients under Masala (B)
Heat oil for seasoning add chopped onion fry till slight brown.
Add all the other seasoning ingredients (C) fry for 1 minute.
Add masala. Fry for 4-5 minutes.
Add salt to taste , garam masala & mix well. Boil for 1 minute.
Add 1 cup mixy jar cleaned water & mix well. Boil for 1 minute.
Gently place mackerels.
Spread little masala on top. Do not mix.
Cover & cook on a very slow flame for 15-20 minutes.
Delicious Mackerels green masala is ready to serve.
It's flavourful, moist & super delicious.
Goes well with boiled rice as a side dish with any vegetable gravy .
