Fish cutlet

Fish is cheap these days. Bored of eating same curries or fried fish? Try these yummy fish cutlets. 

These crispy , crunchy cutlets can be the best appetizer or side dish with any meal. 

Make sure to use fleshy fish for the preparation of fish cutlets. King fish, Salmon, Butter fish, Mackerel is an excellent choice for fish cutlets as they are fleshy & have very less bones. Make sure to remove all the bones before adding other ingredients. Cook fish to perfection to retain the moisture & taste. 

Small size seer fish is available these days. It is excellent for fish cutlet.  

Try this delicious recipe. 

Please note: Use spices as per your preference. 


Recipe:

I have used 1/2 kg seer fish. 

A. Ingredients for fish marination:

  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste.
  • 2 tsp Coconut oil/ any oil 

B. Ingredients for cutlet mixture:

  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 medium size chopped onion
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala powder 
  • 1/4 tsp chat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2-3 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • Little chopped coriander leaves 
  • 2 medium potatoes ( boiled & mashed)

C. Other ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1-2 cups breadcrumbs. 

Method:


Clean & wash the fish well. 
Cut into two- three pieces. Add all the ingredients mentioned under A. 

Add 2-3 tbsp water &  boil for 4-5 minutes.  
Flip over & boil  again for another 2 -3 minutes on a medium flame till all the water dries up. 
 
Cool & make sure to remove all the  bones. 

Shred flesh  & keep aside.

Heat 2 tbsp oil, add 1 medium chopped onion, fry till golden brown add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, fry for 1 minute. 

Add all the masala powders.  Mix well. 

Add shredded fish, 2 medium size boiled & mashed potatoes . 

Add 2- 3 tbsp bread crumbs. 
Add 1 tbsp lemon juice, salt to taste. Mix well . 

Add little chopped coriander leaves.  Mix well. 

Cutlets mixture is ready. 

Take required quantity mixture, shape it into required size Cutlets.  

Beat 2 eggs with a pinch of salt, spread bread crumbs in a plate.  
Dip cutlets in the egg mixture, roll in breadcrumbs. 

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.  Place cutlets & fry on medium flame for 2 minutes on each side. 

Delicious cutlets are ready to serve. 

Serve with sauce. 

It's an excellent side dish with any meal.
