TURMERIC LEAVES PATHOLI/HALDIKOLYACHI PATHOLI (EASY WAY)

TURMERIC LEAVES PATHOLI

HALDI KOLYACHI PATHOLI

(EASY WAY)

Many if us love these patholis but are too busy to prepare these. Some people think that the preparation is tome taking & very difficult.

Just to help the busy & lazy cooks(lol), i am posting this quick & easy way to prepare these delicious patholis.

I have already posted traditional way of preparing this dish. Here is a very easy method to prepare this dish.

This recipe requires no soaking & grinding rice.  This can be prepared whenever you find turmeric leaves. No pre-planning, not much preparation is required.  This recipe needs just 3 ingredients.

The taste is almost 95% similar to the traditional way of preparation. My hubby likes this more than the traditional way of preparation.

I often prepare these as i have turmeric  plants in pots.

Here is a simple easy recipe:

All you need is:

  • Pathiri powder
  • Jaggery coconut mixture (with cardamom)
  • Salt to taste.

Method:

For 1 cup Pathiri powder, add 1 cup normal water , salt to taste & mix to a smooth dough.

Prepare jaggery, coconut & cardamom mixture as per the quantity required.

Wash, clean & pat dry the turmeric leaves.

Spread little batter from  stem side moving towards the tip of the leaf. Spread as thin as possible.

Gently place the  sweet coconut mixture in the  centre of the leaves as shown in the picture.

Fold vertically. Gently press all the edges to seal the batter well. You can fold it horizontally too.

Boil enough water in the steaming vessel.

Place all the patholis in the steaming vessel.
Cover & cook for 20-25 minutes.

Steamed patholis.

These are much softer than the ones prepared using ground rice batter.

Slightly cool &  peel off the leaf & enjoy with evening tea with your loved ones.
