Ghee Rice

Ghee rice

This flavourful rice is one of my my family's favorite delicacies. This rice has a unique flavour and taste which makes one to fall in love with this dish. 


This rice is prepared with a special quality rice which is called as jeera rice/ seeraga samba rice which is super aromatic.

This tasty rice goes well with and vegetable or meat korma curry or with any type of meat or egg curries. 

This is the best choice for weekend dinner or any special occasions. 

Very few ingredients are required to prepare this super delicious meal. 

Here is the recipe. 

Kindly note:

Here i have added coconut milk. You can do this without coconut milk. 

Here i have added 2 pulao leaves. You can skip this if not available. 


Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup jeera rice
  • 3 &1/2 cup water 
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 4 cloves, 2" cinnamon 
  • 2 bay leaves 
  • 1 pulao leaf
  • 3 cardamom 
  • 1 sliced onion 
  • 1 green chilli 
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste 
  • Salt to taste 
  • Few dry fruits for garnishing 

Method:


Wash & soak jeera rice for 20 minutes. 
Drain & keep aside. 

Heat ghee in a cooking pot. 
Add dry fruits, roast & keep it aside. 
Add onion & fry till golden brown. Remove 1/4th portion for garnishing. 
Add whole garam masala spices. Fry for 1 minute. 
Add green chilli, ginger garlic paste & fry for 1 minute. 

Add coconut milk. Mix well.

Add water and allow it to boil. Add salt to taste.

Add soaked and drained rice. 
Mix well. 

Cover & cook for 15-18 minutes on a very slow flame. 

Cover & keep aside for 10 minutes. 

Super delicious, flavourful ghee rice is ready to serve. 

Enjoy this delicious rice with any of your  favourite meat or veg curry. 

Tastes awesome with chicken korma curry.
