Spring onion is used in many dishes especially in soups, salad, Asian and Chinese cuisine.  

Spring Onions can be eaten raw, cooked, fried and served as a garnish . Tastes awesome with stir fried meat or veggies.

I love to grow different varieties of herbs in my kitchen garden and use my own fresh herbs for day to day cooking. 

Freshly harvested organic herbs give awesome taste, aroma and flavour to the dish. Moreover, homegrown herbs & veggies are  very healthy as they are free from any pesticides and chemicals. 

Growing Spring onion is the easiest task among all the herbs as it doesn't need any special care. It can be grown quickly and easily and ready to harvest in just 10 days. 

All you need is shallots, soil, water & sunlight! 

Follow these simple steps and grow your  own organic spring onion at home! 

Step 1:


Select good quality shallots (small onions) which are easily available in the market. 

Step 2:


Fill 3/4th portion of the pot with fertile soil. 
Submerge the root side of the shallots in the soil.
 

Step 3:


Make sure to leave some gap in between the shallots. 

Step 4:


Add little soil on top and sprinkle little  water. 
Place this pot in a place where it receives good morning sunlight. 

Water once a day. 

Within 4-5 days you can find this result. 

Within 7-8 days it will show this result. 

In 10 -12 days you can find this growth and it's ready to harvest. 

Cut required spring onion greens for your cooking. 

Use required quantity for your day to day cooking.
 

Tastes awesome in soups. 


Truly delicious when added to fried rice or any Chinese dishes.
