This creamy, yummy, flavourful gravy is loved by most of my guests and is one of my family's favourite dish too.

This green creamy gravy is a  perfect blend of aromatic spices, fresh herbs and  coconut milk. 

The  soup of mutton makes this gravy so glossy and  flavourful. 

This curry goes extremely well with appams, sanna, panpole, chapathi or even with plain rice/ ghee rice. 

This I am sure is truly a delightful combo to trigger your taste buds for a weekend lunch or dinner. 

Please note:

Use spices as per your choice.

I have used fresh coconut milk. You can  even use ready made coconut milk . Use  the 3rd extract of coconut milk to clean the masala jar. 

Cooking time of mutton depends on the quality of meat. Tender mutton cooks faster. 

Recipe:

A. Ingredients required for boiling mutton:

  • 1/2 kg Mutton
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 piece cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

B. Ingredients for Masala:

  • 5 green chillies
  • 1" ginger
  • 6-8 flakes of garlic
  • 1 /2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 1/4 tsp coriander seeds
  • 5 cloves
  • 1" cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cardamom
  • 1 cup coconut 
  • 2 medium onions
  • Little tamarind
  • Little turmeric
  • Handful of coriander leaves/ one small bunch
  • Handful of mint leaves/ one small bunch 

C.Ingredients for seasoning:

  • 1 medium size sliced onion 
  • 1 tbsp ghee

D.Other ingredients:

  • 1/2 large size coconut for extracting milk or 1 cup ready made coconut milk. 
  • 2 Potatoes,  few beans or carrot ( optional)
  • 1 tomato 

Method:


Wash & clean mutton. Add 1 cup of water, salt to taste & add  2 Cloves,1 bay leaf, 1 piece cinnamon, 
turmeric powder & boil for 15-20 minutes in the pressssure cooker. 
( Tender mutton cooks faster)


Boiled Mutton is ready. 

Extract coconut milk with 1/2 coconut & keep the 1st, 2nd & 3rd extracts seperately. 

Grind all the masala ingredients to a fine paste. 

Heat ghee for seasoning. Add sliced onion & fry till golden brown. 

Add Masala paste , add tomato & fry for 4-5 minutes on a slow flame. 

Add potatoes, beans  ( optional)

Add masala water, 2nd extract of coconut milk.  Mix well. Boil for 4-5 minutes. 

Add boiled mutton , mix well &  boil for another 3-4 minutes.  

Now add the 1st extract of coconut milk( thick milk) & mix well. Cover & boil only for 2 minute. 

Delicious, glossy, flavourful mutton green   roce curry is ready. 

Tastes awesome with appams,  panpole/ neeru dosa, sanna or chapathi.  Can be enjoyed with plain rice or ghee rice too.
