Fish Roce Curry
Fish Roce curry/ Fish curry with coconut milk
'Roce' means 'coconut milk' in konkani.
This coconut based curry is so flavourful & super delicious. Here , fish is seasoned with aromatic Indian spices and simmered in creamy coconut milk.
This curry goes extremely well with boiled rice or sanna, dosa & neeru dosa/ panpole.
Butter fish is an excellent choice for this curry. You can also use king fish, pomfret, rawns( Indian salmon) etc for this curry.
This was my parents favourite curry . My dad used to get huge fish fillets & mom was an expert in cooking this delicious curry.
Try this delicious Roce curry with your favourite fish.
Please note:
Try to use coconut oil or ghee for seasoning. Coconut oil gives awesome flavour to this dish.
Here i have used fresh coconut milk. You can use ready made coconut milk too.
Prepare coconut milk with 1/2 small size coconut & keep aside.
Recipe:
Ingredients for Masala:
- 4 byadagi chillies
- 3 guntur/ short red chillies
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1/4tsp jeera
- 1/4 pepper
- Pinch of methi/Fenugreek seeds
- Tiny pinch of ajwain
- Little turmeric
- Small ball of tamarind
- 1 lage onion
- 5-6 flakes of garlic
- 1 cup coconut
Other requirements:
- 1/2 cup thick coconut milk
- Salt to taste
For Seasoning:
- 1 small sliced onion
- 2 green chillies
- 1/4" ginger
- 5 flakes of garlic
- Few curry leaves ( optional)
- 2-3 tbsp coconut oil/ cooking oil
