Christmas Pudding


Christmas pudding is sweet dried-fruit pudding traditionally served as part of Christmas dinner in Britain and other countries. 

It is like a dense mixed fruit cake made of dry fruits , candied fruit peel , citrus zests , butter, sugar , flour & rum or brandy.  The dry fruits & the spices added gives awesome flavour & richness to this yummy pudding. 

The key difference between fruit cake and Christmas pudding is that fruit cake is a cake containing dried fruits, nuts and spices, made with butter, sugar and baked in the oven while Christmas pudding is Steamed . 

I tried this pudding for the first time & it tasted heavenly.  

Super moist, super delicious & my family members just loved it. 

No oven is required to prepare this dish as it is steamed in a steaming vessel. 

It is a super easy dessert  which can be prepared quickly but only needs time in the steamer to turn into a classic festive dessert. 

I have used only 1/2 cup of sugar as the mixed dry fruits added here add natural sweetness to the dish. 

Here i have used molasses for colour & flavour. You can use caramel instead. 

You can add any of your favourite dry fruits. I have used dates, tutti frutti, raisins, almonds, cashewnuts and few melon seeds. 

Try this delicious dish for Christmas. I have tried my own quick & easy method. 

Recipe:

I have used 200 ml cup for the measurement. 

Ingredients:

A. Wet ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 100 gms butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar ( as required)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 tbsp molasses /caramel 

B. Dry ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tsp all spice powder

C. 

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Pinch of salt

D.

  • 1&1/4 cup mixed dry fruits
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1/4 tsp orange zest
  • Little lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp Rum

Method:


Mix all the ingredients under D.

Mix all the ingredients under A.  (Eggs butter, sugar)
Add molasses & vanilla essence . Mix well. 

Sieve all dry ingredients. 

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix well. 

Add breadcrumbs & salt. Mix well. 

Add mixed dry fruits. Mix well. 

Pudding mixture is ready. 

Pour in a greased bowl. 

Cover it with a silver foil. 


Place it in a steaming vessel. 
Steam for 25- 30 minutes. 

Insert a toothpick & make sure it comes out clean. 

Delicious Christmas pudding is ready. 
Cool & run a knife around the pudding & cover it with a serving plate. Turn it upside down. 

Delicious , moist Christmas pudding is ready. 

Slice as per your choice. 

Can be served warm or cold. 
It's truly so yummy.
