Jeera Rice

Flavourful, super delicious and easiest recipe! 

This simple, quick recipe always helps me when i have sudden guests at home. This delicious rice has a unique flavour of jeera( cumin seeds) and can be the best dish on a weekend dinner table. 

This rice can be served with any meat or vegetable korma curry, butter masala curry or can be served with simple dal or  raitha. 

My family loves this rice with meat curry. Its one of their favourite dishes. 

I prefer peas and carrots in this dish. You can skip or add any preferred vegetables. 

Please note:
Select good quality basmati rice for the best results. 


RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1Cup basmati rice(200 gms)
  • 2 cups  water
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds 
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice. 
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/4 cup fresh /frozen peas(optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced carrot (optional)

METHOD:

Wash & rinse basmati rice and soak for 15 minutes. 

Drain rice & keep aside. 

Heat  2 tbsp ghee in a pan.
Add cumin seeds & allow it to crackle.

Add carrots & peas.  Mix for 1 minute. 

Add water. Salt to taste, lemon juice. Mix well.  Allow it to boil. 

Add rice. Mix well. 

Cover & cook for 6-7 minutes on a medium flame. 
Switch off the flame & leave aside for 5 minutes. 

Open the lid  and mix gently with a fork. 

Delicious , simple, flavourful jeera rice is ready. 

Serve with any meat curry or with raitha. 

You can prepare this without any vegetables.  Here i have used only little spring onion for garnishing.
