Beef in Oyster Sauce

BEEF IN OYSTER SAUCE

Beef in oyster sauce with fried rice is our favourite combo.  This flavourful dish can be served as an appetizer or as a side dish with fried rice or noodles.

We need tender beef for this recipe. The regular beef we get in Mangalore is hard & takes longer time to cook. So  i always prefer beef veal   for this recipe.

You can use tender beef or if you are using regular beef, you can boil beef pieces well & then cut into thin slices & follow the recipe.

Here I used tender beef for this recipe.

RECIPE:

A. Ingredients for marinating beef:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • Pinch of soda bicarb
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • Salt to taste.

B. Other ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg beef
  • 2 slit green chillies
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 1/2" chopped ginger
  • 6 garlic cloves chopped
  • Little spring onion.
  • Carrot & capcicum ( optional)
  • 3 tbsp oil.

C. Ingredients for sauce:

  • 1/2 cup chicken stock or water
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2-3 tbsp oyster sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2tsp sugar

METHOD:

Cut beef into thin medium slices.

Marinate with all the ingredients mentioned under A.

Keep it aside for minimum 2 hours.

Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a shallow pan.  Add beef slices.

Fry beef on both sides  till light brown.

Fry in batches and keep aside.

In the same pan add  onion, green chillies, ginger & garlic & fry till aromatic.

Add sauce ingredients one by one & bring to boil.
I added few carrots & capcicum slices.

Add fried beef & mix well .

Cook on a medium flame.

Cook till everything is well combined.
Sprinkle few spring onion toppings.

Delicious beef in oyster sauce is ready.

Serve with fried rice or noodles. Goes well with simple dal rice too.

Enjoy with your loved ones.
