HEALTHY MAYONNAISE


Mayonnaise in just 2 minutes? 

Yes, you can prepare your own healthy mayonnaise , using healthy fats in just 2 minutes. 

Mayonnaise is used in lots of recipes these days & is enjoyed by most of us especially the kids. 

Instead of using store brought mayonnaise which is expensive and also containing  preservatives , its better to prepare healthy mayo at home with very few ingredients. I have used only egg white, you can use whole egg. 

All you need is an immersion blender and a glass bottle, wide enough to  fit  an immersion blender. The glass jar can be used to prepare  as well as to store the mayonnaise .

Select good quality neutral refined oil for the preparation of mayonnaise. 

Unrefined oils have strong flavour & hence not suitable for the  preparation.  I have used extra light olive oil which is a healthy option for the preparation.   You can use sunflower oil or any light neutral refined oils. You can use any suitable spices of your choice. 

Here is a step by step recipe. 

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup extra light olive oil
  • 1 egg white
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1/8tsp crushed pepper
  • Pinch of crushed mustard

METHOD:



Seperate egg yolk from the white. You can use whole egg too. 
Take a glass  jar wide enough to fit an immersion blender. Make sure that the blender reaches to the bottom.  Add extra light olive oil and one egg white, lemon juice and salt to taste. 


Crush garlic, pepper & mustard & add to the oil. 

Now submerge the immersion blender into the bottom of the jar and start whizzing without lifting it. 


Within 10 seconds you can find the oil mixture start turning white at the bottom. 


Now move the blender up & down for another 20 seconds till the mayonnaise is  formed. If it is thick, you can add 2 tbsp warm water. 


Delicious, healthy homemade mayo is ready. 

Its creamy & super delicious. 

Clean the edges of the jar, cover & store in the refrigerator. Stays well for about 2-3 weeks. 
Enjoy this healthy mayo with burgers, sandwiches, taccos, shawarma , salads or with any grilled meat.
