Chilli Chicken
This dish is one of the most loved dishes in my family.
It is an Indo - Chinese dish which is loaded with flavours. This spicy, tangy, slightly sweet dish is usually prepared using boneless chicken but we love bone-in chicken.
This could be the best choice for an appetizer or a side dish with any meal.
Step by step recipe is mentioned below. I never add any food colour in my recipes. You can add if you wish.

Kindly use ingredients as per your requirements.
Recipe:
For 1/2 kg chicken.
A. Ingredients for marination:
- 1tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1tbsp soya sauce
- 1tbsp red chilly sauce
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- Salt to taste
( Oil is required for frying)
B. Ingredients for frying:
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 chopped green chillies
- 6 flakes of chopped garlic
- 1/2" chopped ginger
- 2 tsp soya sauce
- 1 tbsp red chilly sauce
- 3 tbsp tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp vinegar
C. Ingredients for garnishing:
- 1 Diced onion
- 1 Diced capcicum
- Chopped spring onion
METHOD
STEP 1
Add all the ingredients listed under A to cleaned chicken pieces & mix well.
Keep marinated chicken aside for minimum 2 hours. Overnight is better.
STEP 2
Heat oil & fry chicken pieces till slight brown. I use cast iron pan for frying.
STEP 3
Remove fried pieces on an absorbent paper.
STEP 4
Fry 1 diced onion & 1 diced capcicum in 1 tbsp oil & keep aside.
STEP 5
1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a cooking vessel & add all the ingredients ( except sauces) listed under B, one by one and fry just for 1-2 mnts.
2. Add sauces & vinegar, salt & 1/2tsp sugar (optional). Mix well.
3. Add 2 tsp cornflour mixed in half cup water & mix well.
4. Add chicken, mix well.
STEP 6:
Add slightly roasted onion & capcicum. Mix well.
Delicious Chilli chicken is ready.
STEP 9
Serve hot garnished with spring onion toppings. Goes very well with noodles or fried rice as a side dish.
You can skip step 4 and prepare this dish.
